The North Royalton Board of Education held their November meeting on Monday, November 15.
The Board approved the following return of advances from the following funds to the general fund:507-9020 ESSER, $33,472.70; 507-9021 ESSER II, $565,006.19; 516-9021 IDEA B 2020-2021, $39,874.12; 551-9021 Title III LEP 2020-2021, $742.53; 572-9021 Title I 2020-2021, $14,630.43; 590-9021 Title II-A 2020-2021, $8,315.19.
The Board approved the following CCIP grants for 2021-22: .ARP Homeless Round II, $9,862.16.
The Board approved the following 2021-22 appropriation adjustments: 401 Auxiliary Services, $955,969.94$ to $986,072.94 *Increased Allocation; 451 Data Communications, $ 9,000. to $5,400. *Change in Allocation; 507 ESSER, $3,983,854.26 to $3,993,716.42 *Change in Allocation; 584 Title IV, A $27,143.44 to $27,188.58 *Change in Allocation; 599 Other Federal Grants, $1,055.58 to $1,010.44 *Change in Allocation; 022-District Agency, $20,153.04 to $21,553.04. *Sectional Disbursements from Northeast District Athletic Board.
North Royalton School Superintendent, Matthew Laub congratulated the High School Band on their Superior rating at the state finals and the cheerleaders for winning the Suburban League Championship. He noted that “I had the pleasure of going to the Fall play on Saturday and I thought our kids did a fabulous job, so congratulations to the cast and crew and to our advisors for a great show.” He also congratulated NRHS alumni, Katie Galuska on “dotting the I” at a recent Ohio State game. He went on to state he had recently sent out communications regarding the COVID quarantine changes in the district. He noted that when the communication was sent, they were seeing the cases go down. He added that since that was sent, a spike has occurred and the district is acting accordingly. “We know that we have folks anxious on all sides of this issue, that’s for sure, and we understand why. We want to make the best decision we can, as a group, to keep kids in school.”
The Board approved a resolution to expand employment of substitute teachers, pursuant to Ohio Senate Bill 1, which authorizes the employment of substitute teachers, as-needed, who do not hold a post-secondary degree, as otherwise required pursuant to Ohio law and regulations.
The Board approved the following agreements: PowerSchool Group LLC for Enrollment Express and Ecollect Forms Programs from November 21 through November, 2024; CONNECT for the management of PowerSchool Group LLC SIS, license and maintenance; Indrado Interactive Services for the School Messenger program for the district’s mass notification system for the 22-23 school year; Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disability for technical support team services, effective January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022; Cleveland Clinic Lerner School for Autism for special education programs and outreach for the 2021-22 school year; Reaching New Heights for auxiliary services for Royal Redeemer Lutheran School for the 2021-22 school year.
The Board amended the 2022-23 school year calendar to change the start date of kindergarten and kindergarten assessment.

The Board approved a resolution that authorizes a contract for the HVAC equipment at the Middle School in an amount not to exceed $1,305,400 through the participation in the Omnia Public Purchasing Consortium.
The Board approved to accept and acknowledge the following gifts/donations:
“-Royalton Car Wash donated $1,000 to North Royalton High School; -Kathy & Don Sommer of North Royalton donated an HP Monitor to the technology department at North Royalton City Schools; -The Stetler Family donated $100 worth of gift cards for student incentives to North Royalton Middle School.”
The next regularly scheduled meeting will take place on Monday, December 13 at 7 p.m. at the North Royalton High School Community Room.
