The North Royalton Board of Education approved the resignation of Jim Presot at the end of his contract, July 31,2022. Presot is the Assistant to the Superintendent and has worked with the North Royalton School District since 1997.
Presot had actually retired at the end of 2018, but was re-employed when the Board approved a new contract in January, 2019, to be effective February 1, 2019 through July 31, 2022. He was brought back to oversee the District’s building project. As Assistant Superintendent, Presot was very involved in the District’s facilities operation and infrastructure, including the planning and construction of the facilities projects that are currently taking place at the middle school, high school and new elementary school.
Presot joined the North Royalton School District as Assistant Principal of the High School in 1997. He then became High School Principal, starting with the 2000-2001 school year and was then promoted to Assistant Superintendent in August of 2002. In 2016, Presot was named Ohio School Business Official of the Year by the Ohio Association of School Business Officials.
North Royalton School Superintendent, Mike Laub stated that, “Jim has been invaluable to the North Royalton Schools and our communities. I am happy for him as he makes this transition, but sad for our district as we are losing a big part of our team.” He noted that due to Presot, the district’s building project “has gone as smoothly as any project I’ve ever seen.”
Presot stated that “I feel very blessed to have worked for such a great school district over my career. I greatly appreciate the Board of Education allowing me to come back and continue my employment after my retirement and help with the construction projects of the NRHS, NRMS and Elementary buildings. I know it is time for me to close one chapter in my life and start a new one. Not sure what that will be yet, but I am sure God has a plan. I feel very blessed to have worked for such a great school district over my career. As an alumnus of the school district, I was extremely proud that the District gave me the opportunity to come back and work in the capacity as an assistant high school principal, high school principal and finally as the assistant superintendent. Over the years, I have been fortunate to work for and alongside so many outstanding administrators, educators and support staff that truly care about the students, parents and community that we serve.
I owe such a debt of gratitude to the great people in this District: for the teamwork, the progress, the achievements, the setbacks, the perseverance, the development, the opportunities, and most of all the relationships we have built. I am so proud to have contributed to the North Royalton City Schools. The District has a great future, propelled by its mission, values, and dedicated people. I will always cherish the memories. I have been honored to serve the district that has done so much for me and my family during my career. North Royalton will always have a special place in my heart.”
Laub said that preliminary discussions regarding Presot’s replacement have begun.
