Monthly water/sewer bill will come from Div. of Water starting in August

Residents will see their final sewer bill from the City of North Royalton next week. Starting in August, residents will see a bill from the City of Cleveland, Division of Water, that will cover both the water and sewer bills. The city has been billing its residents since 2003, according to Mayor Bob Stefanik. The combined bill will be a monthly bill. With the new program, residents will be getting a monthly bill from the City of Cleveland Water that will include the water fee and the sewer fee. New scams to keep on your radar

Area police and the Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine’s Office are warning residents about some recent scams. The local scammers may be appearing right at your front door. The other scams are regarding online scams. Recently, the Strongsville Police reported that there was a suspicious white pickup truck with Georgia license plates. They pulled into a driveway in the area of Boston Road and asked the resident if he wanted an estimate to pave his driveway. Demolition of Old City Hall will change look  of the City Green

At about 8 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, the building that was once known as City Hall came tumbling down. The old City Hall is located on the City Green at the intersection of Rt 82, Bennett and Ridge Roads. The building was vacated in 2014, when the city’s administration moved to the old library building on State Road. Prior to the demolition, asbestos abatement on the structure took place, at a cost of about $24,000. The city estimated the cost of demolition to be about $200,000. Nick Margevicius begins pro baseball career with San Diego Padres

Nick Margevicius’ family has a new favorite baseball team. In the recent Major League Baseball Amateur draft, the San Diego Padres selected Nick, a left-handed pitcher from Rider University and from North Royalton, in the seventh round. Margevicius was the 198th player selected in the 2017 Draft. Changes continue at the NR Police Dept.

The North Royalton Police Department has had some changes this year, from the top, down. With the retirement of Chief John Elek in March, Sergeant Ken Bilinovich was named new Chief. In addition, there have been some retirements in the department, which needed to be filled. Detective Flo Ann Rybicki was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
