The North Royalton Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT) will be holding a fund raiser, Tailgate Party with Burgers, Dogs and BATS, watching the Cleveland Indians take on the Kansas City Royals. The event will take place on Sunday, September 17, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Ukranian Orthodox Church Pavilion, 9672 State Road in North Royalton.
The group is asking the community to sponsor the event, suggesting that employers maybe host an employee party at the event. The following sponsorships are available:
Hall of Fame – $1,500 with Premier Seating and tickets for 8
Triple Crown – $1,000 with Premier Seating and tickets for 6
MVP – $500 with Premier Seating and tickets for 4
All Star – $300 with Premier Seating and tickets for 2
All sponsorships will be recognized during the event and in the Royalton Recorder. Tickets for individuals will be $25 each. The event will feature burgers, hot dogs, baked beans, two side dishes, dessert, beer, wine and pop, served during the game, which will be shown on a big screen television. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and Chinese auction, as well as other fun activities.
Proceeds from the event will be utilized to purchase equipment, uniforms and supplies, as well as for the insurance that covers CERT members, according to North Royalton CERT Commander, Nick Phillips.
Currently, the North Royalton CERT has approximately 100 members. Phillips continues to seek new CERT Members. “If you want to have something done, give it to a busy person. Those are the kinds of people we are looking for. We try to set up a schedule that is most reasonable. We schedule the meetings starting in January, but then wind down before the summer. Then it will ramp up again in the Fall and end before the holidays,” said Phillips. “People should be aware of what CERT is and what the time-commitments are and should be willing to make that commitment. With that, we are trying to ramp up our training program to make sure it is easier to attain,” said Phillips. The new recruiting program, starting this year, will offer group training to new CERT members. The new training group will start this September.
“Any North Royalton resident 18 years of age or older, who is interested in serving their community as a volunteer member of the North Royalton CERT is welcome to submit an application to the North Royalton City Hall,” according to Phillips. The applications are available online at www.northroyaltoncert.org or from the North Royalton Police Department, located at 14000 Bennett Road at the corner of Bennett and Rt. 82. Anyone interested in more information about the North Royalton CERT can log into the www.northroyaltoncert.org or call Phillips at 440 243-2800. Applications will also be available at the CERT Trailer, which will be at the North Royalton Community Festival, August 18, 19 and 20. Phillips urges residents to stop by and learn what CERT has to offer.
Anyone who wishes to sponsor at the event, or attend the event should call John Kohl at 216-513-8719 or email johnwkohl@gmail.com.
