This year, the North Royalton High School climbed in the ranks of Ohio High Schools, from 117 last year, to 73 this year, according to the U.S. News and World Report 2023 rankings of public schools. Every year, the national magazine lists the best high schools across the United States and District of Columbia. Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School ranked 27 and Strongsville High School ranked 54.
“The U.S. News Best High Schools rankings include data on nearly 25,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Nearly 18,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college,” according to US News officials. They base their methodology distribution as follows: 30% College Readiness; 20% Math and Reading Proficiency; 20% Math and Reading Performance; 10% Underserved Student Performance; 10% College Curriculum Breadth and 10% Graduation Rate.
This year, according to the data collected by U.S. News & World Report, North Royalton High School climbed to 73 in Ohio high schools, in a list containing 741 Ohio high schools. The five top ranked Ohio high schools this year were Bexley High School, in Bexley; Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati; Mariemont High School in Cincinnati, Indian Hill High School in Cincinnati and Wyoming High School in Wyoming. The national magazine reviewed nearly 25,000 public high schools in fifty states and the District of Columbia. “Ohio high school students are assessed in English language arts, math, science and social studies via the Ohio Graduation Tests,” according to US News officials. “To graduate, students must earn at least 20 credits in various subjects, learn economics and financial literacy, as well as take two or more semesters of fine arts, according to the Ohio Department of Education.”
North Royalton High School placed an overall score of 88.65 out of 100, an increase from last year’s score of 81.05. North Royalton High School is ranked 2,007 in the National Rankings, up from 3,381 last year. North Royalton High School is ranked 19 in the Cleveland Metropolitan area, up from 28 last year.
According to the US News data, the total enrollment at the North Royalton High School at the time of this ranking was approximately 1,374 students, which broke down to about 350-375 in each of the four grades, nine through twelve. There were 59 full-time teachers. The total minority enrollment is about 17.9%, up from 15.7%. Of the gender distribution, 47% of the students are female and 53% male.
Of the North Royalton High School students, 42% took at least one Advanced Placement exam and 31% passed at least one Advanced Placement exam. The exam pass rate is 68%. The Mathematics Proficiency scored at 66%, Reading Proficiency scored at 85% and the Science proficiency rate was 81%. All three proficiencies exceeded states scores by about 20%. The graduation rate from North Royalton High School is 93%.
