On October 26, North Royalton High School hosted a Career, College and Military Exploration Day. The day included opportunities for 9th and 10th-grade students to learn more specifics about potential careers, explore career interests and individual strengths as well as an option to explore military and/or college options.
Alex Sheen, motivational speaker and Founder of Because I Said I Would, was the guest speaker for the day. Because I Said I Would is a social movement to better humanity through making and keeping promises. Their goal is to build a community of people driven to help others on a regular basis.
Students were able to explore careers in nursing, architecture, dentistry, engineering, sheet metal, physical therapy, human resources, multiple entrepreneurs who own different businesses, construction, accounting, chemistry, machinery, real estate, police and fire, chiropractor, electrical and technology.
Branches of the military that were present included: Ohio Army National Guard, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marines, U. S. Naval Academy.
The colleges that were present included: Lorain County Community College, Kent State University and University of Akron.
“It was fantastic to see students engaged and interacting with community members talking about different careers and learning about future paths that are available to them.” said Principal Sean Osborne, North Royalton High School.
