The North Royalton Board of Education held their October meeting on Monday, October 11.
The Board approved the Fiscal Year 2022 Five-Year Forecast. It then approved additions to the comprehensive continuous improvement plan grants for 2021-22: ARP IDEA Special Education, $225,578.46; ARP IDEA Early Childhood, $16,699.28.
The Board approved the following 2021-22 fund appropriation adjustments: Permanent Improvement, from $2,907,250 to $3,392,250; 006 Food Service, from $898,900. to $1,717.648.63; 019 Other Local Grants, from $278,465.16 to $291,088.84; 516 IDEA, from $1,107,986.92 to $1,333,565.38; and 587 Early Childhood, from $23,118.07 to $39,817.35.
The Board approved the amendment of the adopted classified substitute salary schedule. Effective October 11, 2021, classified substitute hourly rates will be Step 0 of the classified salary schedule for each job classification.
The Board amended the adopted certified substitute salary schedule as follows: “Certified substitutes will be paid a daily rate of 43 percent of the certified salary schedule daily rate BA Step 0, rounded to the nearest dollar, for the first 25 days of annual school year employment, and a daily rate of 53 percent, rounded to the nearest dollar, for day 26 and beyond of annual employment. Retired certified employees of North Royalton City Schools will be paid a daily rate of 53 percent of the certified salary schedule daily rate BA Step 0, rounded to the nearest dollar for the first 25 days of annual school year employment, and a daily rate of 63 percent, rounded to the nearest dollar, for day 26 and beyond of annual employment,” according to the resolution.
School Superintendent Matt Laub reported that the proposed calendar for the 2022-23 school year includes non-school days on the days scheduled as election days in the spring and in November, as the new elementary school will be utilized as a major polling place. He added that the two days will not be deducted from the school year, but will be moved.
The Board adopted the 2022-23 School Year Calendar.
The Board approved the following agreements for the 2021-22 school year: A transportation agreement to transport students with the Personal Leasing Transportation Company; Music therapy services with the Music Therapy Enrichment Center; health care services with the Soliant Health, LLC. They also approved an agreement with Education Plus, LLC to assist with the federal E-Rate Program application process for the 2022 E-Rate funding year, July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023.

The Board approved a rental agreement with the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, North Royalton Branch, for the rental of the swimming pool and locker rooms for the North Royalton High School swim team’s 2021-22 season.
The Board approved the following trip proposal: Baseball Team, Ripken Experience, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, April 18-22. 2022.
The next regularly scheduled board meeting will take place on Monday, November 11, 7:00 p.m. at the North Royalton High School Community Room.
