All the ingredients came together to make the seventh annual “Taste of North Royalton” a yummy success. The event held on November 2 at the St. Paul Hellenic Center brought together more than 400 guests which helped benefit the North Royalton Education Foundation and the North Royalton Stadium Foundation.
Looking at the scoreboard on the night, there were plenty of impressive numbers. There were 21 food vendors; 94 large raffle baskets were available for bid and more than 400 people came to enjoy themselves, and the food.
“This is a fantastic event organized by both the North Royalton Educational Foundation and the North Royalton Stadium Foundation, to support our students and district. We are fortunate to have very supportive organizations who go above and beyond to help us inspire great in all we do!” said North Royalton School Superintendent Greg Gurka.
The raffle baskets included a wide assortment of raffle baskets from businesses all around North Royalton and surrounding cities. “This is the seventh year of the Taste of North Royalton and it is a wonderful event that brings the community together and benefits the kids of North Royalton City Schools. The Taste showcases delicious food from restaurants and caterers in our area as well as offering raffle baskets from many generous businesses and individuals that are all working to benefit our kids, ” said Becky Cozzens, Taste of NR committee chair. The committee also includes Tricia Stanton, Kelly Tarnowski, Ellen Kmetz, John Kelly, Larry Vasil, Rachel Hoag and Danetia McKay.
School Board Member, Dr. John Kelly, said, “The Taste of North Royalton has become one of the most popular events held each year. It is a great night of community, a chance to see friends from all around town and a terrific night to try food from the many vendors and restaurants in North Royalton and nearby. When you add in that 100% of the proceeds go to support the Stadium Foundation and the North Royalton Educational Foundation, it becomes by all accounts a Win-Win for everyone. Congratulations to everyone on the committee for another job well done.”
Twenty-one food vendors brought their tempting dishes to share with guests. Among the food vendors on hand were Carmen and Jo Marie Cerino of Carrie Cerino’s Ristorante, a mainstay of our community on Ridge Road. Some others included D’Agnese’s Bistro, Matteo’s, Jaipur Junction, Niko’s Bar & Gyros, plus some newcomers like Tom & Chee, Mission BBQ, Tinkers Creek Tavern, to name a few.
Allison and Mike Fowler had a good time. “This is the first time we’re attending the Taste. We enjoyed the food and trying samples from all the restaurants. It is a great way to support a worthy cause,” said Allison.
Everyone in attendance went back two and three times to get a taste of all the various dishes.
If you were not able to get to the Taste of North Royalton this year, be sure to put it on your calendar for 2018. Tickets for this event usually sell out early.
