North Royalton leads other cities in deer hunting permits
With the passage of ordinances for the hunting of white tailed deer earlier this year, some may wonder how the program is going. About half of the bow hunting deer season has concluded. The Ohio Deer Hunting Season for 2016-2017, for archery started on September 24 and runs through February 5, 2017, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Two ordinances pertaining to the hunting of white tailed deer by bow hunting in North Royalton, introduced at the May 3 City Council meeting, were unanimously adopted at the June 7 meeting. The years are quickly winding down as the Recorder approaches 75. 2014 began with a bone freezing Polar Vortex. The forecast for Tuesday, January 7, called for patchy blowing snow with a high temperature of 3 wind chills could be as low as -37 before 4 a.m. After 4 a.m. there was a slight chance of snow with the daytime temp hovering about 1 degree with the wind chill warming to about -18 due to light wind of 10 to 18 mph. ‘Stuff the Bus’ event warms hearts and children in need. Annual event raises funds, collects more than 300 coats
The season of generosity has officially begun in North Royalton. As part of the annual Coats for Kids Stuff the Bus collection event, members of the North Royalton High School Football Team collected 313 winter coats and nearly $2,600 for those in need in northeast Ohio. The event, now in its seventh year, stations a yellow North Royalton school bus at the Board of Education Office and beckons motorists to “Stuff the Bus” with donations of new or gently worn children’s coats and cash donations. Santa Claus is polishing his boots and getting ready for his visit to the North Royalton Lighting of the City Green. North Royalton alum to coach CSU men’s soccer
Kirk Harwat, who grew up in North Royalton, and graduated from North Royalton High School, has been named as the new Head Coach of the Men’s Soccer team at Cleveland State University. Harwat was an assistant coach at Cleveland State for the last five years under Ali Kazemaini. Before the 2016 season began, Coach Kazemaini announced that he would step down at the end of the season to spend more time with his family and concentrate on personal business.
