Community teams up for Drug Take-Back Day resulting in a record-breaking collection
At the last Drug Take-Back Day, the collection of unused, unwanted or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications totaled a record-breaking 283 pounds. In comparison, there are approximately 1,056 average paperclips in one pound and roughly 500 plain M&M’s candy in one pound. If the collection were paper clips, the total would be about 298,848, and if the collection were M&M’s plain candy, the total would be approximately 141,500. Homecoming at North Royalton High School on Friday, October 7, was a busy night for students and the community. The night involved a football game between North Royalton and Brecksville, the naming of the Homecoming King and Queen, honoring the senior members of the North Royalton High School Marching Band and honoring a student who will long be remembered by his classmates. NR Girls Soccer Suburban League Champs. State Tournament Ahead.
The North Royalton Girls Varsity Soccer team has reached one goal this season and have their eyes set on another. The Girls team is champions of the National Division of the Suburban League. Back on October 12, the Lady Bears defeated Stow-Munroe Falls 2-1 to wrap up the Division Championship. It was the first outright Girls Soccer Championship for North Royalton in school history, although they shared the championship back in 2006. Proposed EMS Levy would replace current levy
North Royalton voters will be asked to vote on a safety issue on the upcoming November 8 ballot. If passed in November, the five-year, $1.7 mill EMS levy would replace the current $1.7 mill levy which currently is set to expire at the end of 2018. If passed, the new levy will then take the place of the old levy, which will then start being collected in 2017. The new levy will raise taxes, as it will be a replacement, rather than a renewal.
