Seniors gather for opening of their new meeting place

On one of the nicest days you could imagine the new North Royalton Senior Center opened at just a wee bit past 10 a.m. on July 23, with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz, with attending council persons, held the big blue scissors for the official opening of the New Senior Center at Royal View. Interested citizens, especially seniors, started gathering outside the building at 9:30 a.m. The new Senior Center has ample, well-marked parking, some outdoor seating, and bright new activity rooms for the activities already on the schedule and certainly more to come. Come one, come all to the 139th Community Festival

The famous quote, “The only constant in life is change,” has special meaning this year. The 139th Annual Community Festival has changed somewhat this year as it will be held on Saturday, August 23, jam-packing three days of activities into one day of non-stop fun for the whole family. North Royalton Community Festival began some 141 years ago as a Farmers’ Picnic. In all those years, only two years did the event not take place, and that was due to the 2020-21 pandemic. Council reviews remaining Charter Issue for November ballot

In May, the North Royalton City Council called for a review of the remaining proposed Charter Amendment that was submitted by the Charter Review Committee. According to the City’s Charter, a Collaborative Committee could be called in the event of a disagreement between the Charter Review Committee and the majority of Council. The proposed amendment must go to the ballot, but the verbiage of the proposal can be changed before the amendment is approved by Council, which will then be submitted to the voters. New North Royalton CERT Commander is named

Ken Wolnik, Jr. has been named as the Director of the North Royalton Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). According to Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz, Wolnik took over the post on July 10. Wolnik is replacing Nick Phillips who retired from the post. Phillips held that position since the group’s inception, in 2003. The North Royalton CERT was established through the encouragement of the U.S. Congress, under the auspices of the Secretary of Homeland Security and FEMA. The North Royalton Board of Education held a second monthly meeting on Thursday, June 26 The Board approved the final appropriation adjustments for 2024-25 and the temporary appropriations for 2025-26. The General Fund showed $60,192,713.33 and the grand total for all funds for 2024-25 showed $74,546,306.10.
