Motorists and pedestrians traveling along Royalton and Ridge Roads on November 30, were greeted with a 25-year tradition, the Lighting of the City Green.
Ice Artistry did an impressive ice sculpture demo before the parade, and Spring Mist Farms had a live reindeer display for all to see.
The annual Holiday Lighting and Christmas shortened parade began around 5 p.m., and included the North Royalton Marching Band Drumline and Band Front, along with Santa Claus riding on a shining red fire engine. The parade made its way to the City Green. The Mayor and Santa walked to the gazebo, and invited children to come up and take part as they hit the switch to light up the Christmas decorations.
Members of the North Royalton High School Choir performed Christmas carols at the gazebo, and the Marching Band Drumline also performed.
Prior to the event, City crews decorated the gazebo, and set up Judy’s Cafe where refreshments were served. Santa greeted visitors at his little house and listened to children’s wish lists and Mrs. Claus presented each child with a chocolate bar as well as a toy.
The annual Holiday Lighting always adds warm hometown charm to the holiday season, creating memories for years to come for families attending with their small children. Time will tell if Santa comes through on their wishes!
