City Council discusses storm water fee

  Two pieces of legislation were introduced at the March 15 City Council meeting that could ultimately affect the pocketbooks of North Royalton residents. The first ordinance authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Northeast Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) to settle litigation regarding the billing “C” district. The second ordinance would then authorize the Mayor to enter into a service agreement with NEORSD in order to include all of the city’s storm water districts within the NEORSD Regional Storm Water Management Program. City administrations review deer hunting legislation

Now that the deer hunting issue was passed in the March primary election, it’s time for the city to get down to the work of writing the legislation that will determine the parameters of the program. All six communities passed the measure. In North Royalton, 6,395 voters voted for the measure and 2,968 voted against it. Last November, the North Royalton City Council unanimously adopted a resolution that would allow a deer hunting measure to be placed on the March ballot. The North Royalton Kiwanis Club celebrated the completion of its silver anniversary of service to the community in January of 1977. In the 25 years that Kiwanis had been making Royalton a better place to live. In 1976 the Kiwanis had supporting blood drives, bingo and social activities at the nursing homes, the annual Easter Egg hunt, Annual Scholarships to the graduating classes of North Royalton High School, the after prom, support for children with learning disabilities, and donated a total of $2,856 for the benefit of North Royalton residents backed by over 2,046 man hours of good works. What happens when you give twenty-five seniors four thousand plastic eggs, eleven thousand pieces of candy, thirty rolls of tape, fifteen volunteers, and a single afternoon? You get Royalton Woods’ annual North Royalton Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt Service Project. Consen recently flew to his homeland of Suriname, which is located on the north coast of South America (just north of Brazil). While flying to Suriname, Consen spent some time reading his Recorder. The biggest news of January 1974 was the E. E. Root High School varsity basketball team finally won a game. The Bears rolled over Cuyahoga Hts. for the first win in a really long time. Coach Denny Kushlak hoped it would be, “the beginning of a new streak, a winning streak.” The win was such an overwhelming shock the Recorder reporter neglected to indicate the final score! New businesses, new housing, new residents; all needed appropriate zoning, services and community amenities. Three pets perish in Drake Road fire

On Monday, February 22, the North Royalton Fire Department was dispatched to a call at 2:26 a.m. to a fire at 12666 Drake Road. It was reported that the fire was fully engulfing the garage and a portion of the house, which was attached by a breezeway. Mutual aid was also called from Broadview Heights, Brunswick and Strongsville. Since there was a large propane tank on the property, residents were evacuated. The power lines were also on fire.
