Parade and holiday lighting ceremony canceled, but Santa is waiting for Christmas wish letters

The pandemic has claimed another beloved city tradition: the annual Lighting of the City Green and Christmas Parade event that typically takes place the Sunday after Thanksgiving and helps usher in the holiday season. The City Green will still be adorned in its traditional show of sparkling twinkle lights and holiday displays, but no ceremonial “flipping of the switch” will take place or event festivities, according to Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz. Historical Marker is installed at City Green

On Sunday, October 18, a ceremony to officially mark the North Royalton City Green for history took place. Care & Share continues Thanksgiving meal tradition in a different way

It’s a Thanksgiving tradition. For the past 30 years, the Care & Share Thanksgiving meal at Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church has been a tradition in North Royalton. Those who are new to our city, who may be a shut-in or who may not have any family in the area, have found fellowship at Royal Redeemer on Turkey Day, and they are served a great meal. City looks to Issue 1 for funding

The North Royalton City Council unanimously adopted a resolution at their October 20 meeting that authorizes the Mayor to apply for assistance from the State’s infrastructure program. The assistance is for the 2021 Issue 1 funding year. This year, the project involves the West 130 Street and York Road Sanitary Sewer Improvement Projects. Police seeing uptick in fraud

In one 30-day period, 15 cases of theft by deception, fraud and/or identity theft were reported to the North Royalton Police Department. It is not unusual to get several reports in one day, according to North Royalton Police Detective, David Loeding. Many think that older individuals are mainly the victims of these types of crimes, but that is not necessarily true. “Fraud knows no age,” said Loeding. One resident perishes from house fire

A North Royalton resident has passed away after being rescued from a house fire on Sunday, October 18. A call came in at about 1:10 p.m. to the North Royalton Fire Department regarding a house fire at the 13200 block of State Road. A 79-year-old resident and her 57-year-old daughter were trapped in the house. “We had some passersby call 911 after they saw the fire on the street side of the house,” according to North Royalton Fire Chief Bob Chegan. Building totaled after driver in burning car drives into gas station

On Thursday, October 8, at about 4:20 p.m., a call came in to the North Royalton Fire Department as a vehicle fire. North Royalton Fire Chief Robert Chegan responded with the crew, and came to realize that the car was on fire, as well as the building. According to North Royalton Police reports, a Parma resident was traveling east on Wallings Road when the interior of the car he was driving began to fill with smoke.
