What’s on the Ballot: Early voting starts October 8

It’s that time again. The following is what you will see on November 5 ballot. This is being published at this time to accommodate voters who choose to vote early, with absentee voting, which were mailed on September 20. North Royalton Homesteaders 4-H Club Fares well at the 2024 Cuyahoga County Fair

The 4-H program, the nation’s largest positive youth development program, encourages youth to learn and grow through the experience of taking on livestock projects and other non-animal projects, like baking, sewing, and gardening. NR Homesteaders 4-H Club members showed that growth over the last year as members exhibited nearly 30 livestock projects at the 2024 Cuyahoga County Fair, which were sold at the 4-H Livestock Auction. North Royalton City Council President Paul Marnecheck jumped in this year for the first time as a Guest Auctioneer at the Livestock Auction, which was held August 10. ....

Council to establish Charter Review Committee

A resolution was introduced at the September 3 City Council meeting to establish a Charter Review Commission. Every four years, the Mayor and City Council appoint a committee of nine qualified voters in the City to review the City’s charter. That committee, along with the City’s Law Director, review the current charter and make recommendations to Council, for any additions, deletions or amendments that may ultimately be placed on the ballot of the next regularly scheduled election. September is National Preparedness Month

The recent storms that knocked down power lines and trees, caused hundreds of residents to lose power for several days. Although most of North Royalton didn’t bear the brunt of the storm, it certainly reminds residents that Mother Nature can really pull some punches. Since that fury can’t be fought, the best option is to be prepared. Every September, National Preparedness Month is observed in an attempt to raise awareness of how important it is to be prepared for disasters and emergencies that could take place at any time. West 130 Street Bridge is now reopened

North Royalton residents, especially those living in the southwestern part of the city, should be happy to know that the West 130 Bridge is now open. An announcement that the bridge would be open on August 9 was a bit premature, but it still is ahead of schedule. The bridge is located on West 130 Street, just south of Valley Parkway, and spans the Rocky River. The August 9 opening announcement was deferred, with the bridge opening on Friday, August 23. Remember to Stop for School Bus now that school is in session

School is now in session, and so is the daily commute of students around the City on school buses. North Royalton Police Chief Keith Tarase reminds motorists to keep this in mind and act accordingly regarding the laws about stopping around school buses. According to the laws of the State of Ohio, when approaching a school bus that is in the process of dropping off children: - Drivers approaching a school bus in any direction must stop at least ten feet from the front or rear of the school bus. Council, Planning look at City Ordinance changes

In 2021, North Royalton voters approved the adoption of a new Master Land Use Plan and Rezoning Map for the City. Changing the City’s codified ordinances to accommodate those changes have been taking place, and six ordinances were introduced to that end. Originally, the City contracted a developer for the Town Center District Project. There were problems, however, with the assembly of land necessary to make the project work. The July meeting of the North Royalton Board of Education took place on Thursday, July 18. School Superintendent Mike Laub gave an update on the District’s food service. Kent Corp breaks ground for major expansion

Members of the North Royalton Chamber of Commerce and City Officials joined CEO of Kent Corporation, Dean Costello, as they broke ground on the company’s upcoming expansion. The addition will add 22,000 square feet to the existing facility. Kent Corporation designs and manufactures steel processing equipment. A parade of leashed canines and their devoted owners are preparing to come to the City Green, visiting with vendors, enjoying refreshments, and participating in pet-friendly activities as part of the 17th annual Pet Carnival, sponsored by the North Royalton Animal Hospital and Paws At Play Resort and Daycare.
