St. Albert the Great debuts a new TV studio as a memorial

The memory and legacy of Kathleen Cochrane DePiero will live on with every morning broadcast at Saint Albert the Great School. Family, friends and colleagues from Fox 8 gathered Sept. 7 at the Wallings Road school to dedicate a new broadcast studio in honor of Cochrane DePiero, an Emmy-award winning reporter and Fox 8 anchor who died last December from influenza. She was 38 years old. Mayor and ODOT enter agreement for resurfacing of Rt. 82

At its September 4 meeting, the North Royalton City Council adopted an ordinance that authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) for the resurfacing project of Rt. 82.  This is not to be confused with the widening project, but will resurface an area of Rt. 82 that is not currently being widened. Even though a portion of the Rt. 82 widening project has begun, the entirety of the stretch through North Royalton will not be widened any time soon.  In fact, the portion between York Road and the eastern corporation line to Broadview Heights ....

City asks State for budget overage

The City of North Royalton has joined other Ohio cities in an effort, trying to encourage state officials to consider municipalities when they determine how to utilize a projected surplus of tax money in the state budget. On September 4, the North Royalton City Council unanimously adopted a resolution imploring Ohio Governor John Kasich and the Ohio General Assembly to distribute the state budget surplus tax dollars to municipalities. Council approves legislation to help regulate telecommunication facilities

Council unanimously approved legislation at their September 4 meeting that will help regulate new telecommunications  facilities, which include equipment, towers and antennas.   The legislation amends the city’s codified ordinances regarding regulations in public rights-of-ways. Lions Club honors member at NRHS football home opener

North Royalton City Schools made the first home football game on August 24 at North Royalton Serpentini Chevrolet Stadium a little more meaningful by holding a flag dedication before kickoff. The North Royalton Lions Club donated a 10 ft. by 15 ft. flag for the stadium in memory of Bob Serpentini, Sr. who served with the Lions Club for 45 years. He passed away this past June. Time to put safe driving practices in gear

Now that the new school year has begun, more attention must be paid while driving, especially in neighborhoods and near schools and areas where children play. Drivers need to be mindful of enhancing safety by following safe driving practices, especially in these areas. The North Royalton School District’s Transportation Department consists of a fleet of 66 Buses and six Vans, employing 50 Bus Drivers, eight Substitute Bus Drivers, three Van Drivers, and 4 Bus Monitors. North Royalton School Board approves new contracts with Non-Teaching Employees

The North Royalton Board of Education recently approved a new contract and compensation plans for non-teaching employees of the North Royalton School District. At the August 13 Board of Education meeting, the Board adopted the negotiated agreement with the Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE) and the compensation plans for the Central Office Professional Staff Association (COPSA), the North Royalton Principals’ Association, and the Central Office Administrators for the period of August 1, 2018, through July 31, 2021. Band’s parent preview night got everyone feelin’ alright

The Grand Ballroom at Carrie Cerino’s Ristorante & Party Center provided the backdrop Aug. 4 for the biggest local party in 200 years as North Royalton celebrated its bicentennial with a formal gala ball.
