Band’s parent preview night got everyone feelin’ alright

“…We’re all in the mood for a melody, and you’ve got us feelin’ alright.” The lyrics to Singer-songwriter Billy Joel’s 1973 hit, “Piano Man,” sure fit the mood Aug. 17 as members of the North Royalton High School Marching Band performed Joel’s signature melodies among other catchy tunes during a special “Parent Preview Night” that highlighted their football show and the many skills they have learned at Band Camp. Bicentennial Gala Ball celebrates 200 years of history, civic pride

The Grand Ballroom at Carrie Cerino’s Ristorante & Party Center provided the backdrop Aug. 4 for the biggest local party in 200 years as North Royalton celebrated its bicentennial with a formal gala ball. A warm sense of community and civic pride filled the room as guests gathered to enjoy hors d’oeuvres, a prime rib dinner, delectable desserts, an open bar, luxury raffle prizes, historical items on display and entertainment provided by the Motown band Twist. Old-Timers celebrate North Royalton’s 200th Birthday

Nostalgia was the theme of the 2018 Olde-Timers Banquet held at the Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church on Saturday, August 18. The luncheon saluted those who are70 years old and have lived in North Royalton at least 30 years during the city’s 200 years of existence. More than 200 ‘olde-timers’ attended the luncheon. Civic groups hope results of survey will spur more interest

Results from a recent community survey regarding the various civic groups and organizations are in. Residents were asked to participate in the civic engagement survey in order to gain an understanding revolved around the city’s civic groups. The online survey is the brainchild of North Royalton City Council President Larry Antoskiewicz and Ward 3 City Councilman Dan Langshaw. The idea started when the two discussed the need for increased membership seemed to resonate from most of the city’s groups. North Royalton Homesteaders 4-H Club Members take Four Grand Champion Winners to the Sale Bidding was fast and furious at the Cuyahoga County Junior Fair 4-H Livestock Auction on Saturday, August 11, at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds. Bicentennial Community Festival was a dynamite good time for all

Whether it is the funnel cakes, the carnival games, the children’s rides, the parade, fireworks or simply the time with family, attending the Community Festival, organized and sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, is always a cherished way for residents to close out another wonderful summer in North Royalton. Fishing Derby had a whale of a turnout

The 15th Annual George Modock, Jr. Memorial Fishing Derby had a record turnout on Friday, July 27. Children ages 7 - 15 were invited to participate in this annual fun event at Memorial Park, 14600 State Road, at the lower pavilion. Prizes, donated by Mrs. George Modock, Jr., were awarded in three age categories: $25 for 1st place in the 7-9 age group; $50 for 1st place in the 10-12 age group; and $75 for 1st place in the 13-15 age group. Pastor Alex Harris joins Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church

Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church is proud to announce the installation of Pastor Alex Harris, which took place on Sunday, July 22. He joins the church as the Young Adult Pastor. He was ordained at Grace Lutheran Church in Columbus, IN (his home congregation) on Sunday, June 10. Along with preaching and the various other duties of an Associate Pastor, Pastor Harris’ primary responsibilities include overseeing junior high youth ministry, confirmation instruction, senior high youth ministry, and ministry to college students and young adults. Akins Road Fire Cause Still Under Investigation

On July 20, a call came in at about 3:20 a.m. to the North Royalton Fire Department reporting that smoke was coming from an area on Akins Road. When the fire department arrived, the house was fully engulfed and flames were seen coming from the roof. Brunswick and Broadview Heights responded, as well as Hinckley, Strongsville and Middleburg Heights and Brecksville. Parma Heights EMS squad also responded. Broadview Road and Akins Roads were closed to traffic. There was heavy fire in the attic and visible fire on the first floor. There was no one home at the time. The house was being renovated. ....
