Get ready to party at the North Royalton bicentennial Gala Ball

The Bicentennial events will shine bright the weekend of August 4 and 5, with the Bicentennial Ball on Saturday and a Picnic in the Park on Sunday. The Bicentennial Ball will take place at Carrie Cerino’s Ristorante and Party Center on Saturday, August 4. The gala is being sponsored by the North Royalton Chamber of Commerce, which is also celebrating their centennial anniversary this year. Chamber marks its 100th year of service to the community – The 1950s

1950 - The Chamber began the New Year by working with the Hinckley Chamber of Commerce on bus transportation. The Zane Bus Line was interested in running six round trip buses from Wadsworth through Hinckley and North Royalton to the Grey Hound Bus Terminal in Cleveland. Utilities commission permits and bickering delayed service to the communities that really wanted it. 1951 - The Chamber voted to underwrite the cost of sending the Royalton Recorder to North Royalton residents currently serving in the Armed Forces. School superintendent reports on “state of the schools”

Chamber members and guests attended the North Royalton School District’s (NRSD) State of the Schools address, presented by North Royalton School Superintendent Greg Gurka. The event, held on Wednesday, April 18, at Carrie Cerino’s Ristorante. The Chamber of Commerce luncheon event was sponsored by the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center. Cyber security is topic of Mayor’s business breakfast

Some one hundred people were guests of Mayor Bob Stefanik for his semi-annual business breakfast. The meeting took place at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, at Carrie Cerino’s Ristorante. NRHS band gives ‘magical’ performance

The North Royalton High School Band is no stranger to performing for large crowds, but their performance at Disney’s Magic Kingdom on April 4 took that amount to even greater heights as thousands upon thousands of spectators visiting the park from around the world watched them march down the coveted Main Street, U.S.A. during the park’s “Evening March” parade. City Green Pavilion project on hold

Unfortunately, the upgrading of the City Green has run into a snag with the erection plans of a new pavilion and will not be completed in time for the city’s bicentennial celebration. Although the overall project will continue, the pavilion portion of the project, which includes the construction of the pavilion, its furnishings and landscaping, has been stalled. The city went out to bid on the pavilion recently and, although several companies picked up bid packages, only one company submitted a bid. Grants will fund new gear for NRFD

Some good news in the form of grant funding for the North Royalton Fire Department has been realized recently by the city. Two grants will help compensate for purchases made for the department. A grant from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) has been awarded. School facilities design updated with residents’ feedback

Residents gathered at the High School Performing Arts Center on Monday, March 26, to view the initial design of the school facilities projects. These designs, although not final, are a compilation of the feedback received from residents and staff at the January 3 meeting, where interactive exercises were given by project architects ThenDesign Architecture (TDA) . The meeting was held to see how the community responded to the initial design. Chamber marks 100 years of service – The Early Years 1944 – 1950

The Royalton Recorder carried a feature called “Sally’s Letters to G. I. Joe.” It was a little corner of the front page. Some bits and pieces of news from Royalton, just enough to clip and tuck in a letter to the fathers, brothers, and sons that were fighting in Europe, North Africa, and the Pacific on their way to Japan. By the end of 1944 there was renewed hope that the war would end, “soon.” Still, there was a lot of fighting ahead. Dr. J. G.
