Historical Ridge Road home to be renovated

Unless a house is “For Sale by Owner,” it’s not extremely common for the current homeowner to meet the new buyer. And it’s even less common for the home’s previous residents to not only meet the current owner, but also the new buyer. Long-time Royalton treasured seniors thanked at banquet

Instead of calling it “The Old Timers Banquet,” how about a new name calling the luncheon to honor North Royalton’s “Most Treasured Residents.” Whatever name you call it, the Olde Timers Banquet is held every year during the North Royalton Community Festival. The event honors residents who helped North Royalton grow into the city that it is today. Those who were invited to lunch on Saturday, August 19, at Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church included those North Royalton residents who are at least 70 years of age and have lived in the city for at least 30 years. Schools choose architect for School Facilities Project

The North Royalton Board of Education chose the firm ThenDesign Architecture to be the architect for the North Royalton Schools facilities project. They voted unanimously at the August 14 School Board meeting. Willoughby-based ThenDesign Architecture (TDA) specializes in architecture, planning, and interior design. They also have an office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. North Royalton City Schools selected as one of Top 200 Entries In State Farm Neighborhood Assist Grant Program

Residents need to go online starting to vote for the project North Royalton City Schools and the North Royalton Education Foundation just received word today that it has been selected as a top 200 cause in the State Farm Neighborhood Assist Grant Contest. From August 16-25, the community will vote on the top 200 causes from this philanthropic program. The 40 causes with the most votes will be announced on September 28 and each will win a $25,000 grant from State Farm. City, Schools to receive rebate for Ohio BWC

The City of North Royalton and the North Royalton School District will be receiving a check from the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation (BWC) to rebate premiums paid. This practice takes place every few years, according to North Royalton Finance Director, Eric Dean. Ohio cities, schools and other employers are receiving rebates for workers’ compensation premiums combined at more than $1 billion. Refunds also were made in 2013 and 2014. Community Garden Goes Blue at Cuyahoga County Fair

A Blue Ribbon was flying for the North Royalton Community Garden at the 121st annual  Cuyahoga County Fair, which took place from August seventh through the thirteenth.  This will be the group’s fifth blue ribbon. The North Royalton Community Garden received the first place blue ribbon for their display entry in the Community Garden Display category, along with a check for $100.   The group received the most points, which placed them ahead of their competitor,  Ben Franklin, from Cleveland. Man’s best friends of all varieties came to the annual Pet Carnival

When John Barlak’s wife, Robin, was diagnosed with lung cancer two years ago, the couple’s boxer pup Rosie was with them every step of the way. Rosie was supportive and a constant companion to Robin, who lost her battle with cancer in March. “Rosie would snuggle up with her, and I know, in some way, Rosie knew what was going on,” Barlak said. “She’s my first dog, and the love she gives is just incredible. School facilities busy with new building groundwork

Since the passage of the School Bond last May, the North Royalton School Administrators and School Board have been busy with the groundwork that will result in a new elementary school building and other updated buildings.  “We as an organization have to go through a certain procedure,” said Assistant School Superintendent Jim Presot. CERT tailgate fund-raiser offers burgers,  dogs and bats

The North Royalton Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT) will be holding a fund raiser, Tailgate Party with Burgers, Dogs and BATS, watching the Cleveland Indians take on the Kansas City Royals.  The event will take place on Sunday, September 17, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Ukranian Orthodox Church Pavilion, 9672 State Road in North Royalton.
