2017 Festival Pageant Winners ready for a year of service

The North Royalton Festival Pageant kicks off the festivities of the annual Community Festival every year. It’s always an exciting event for all involved and this year was no different. The special event took place on Thursday, August 10, at 7 p.m. at the North Royalton High School Performing Arts Center, and it brought together some of the finest youth in North Royalton. City acquires foreclosed State Road property

The City of North Royalton received a gift from Cuyahoga County in the form of a foreclosed property. The County transferred the State Road property over to the city, according to Mayor Bob Stefanik. North Royalton Community Development Director Tom Jordan said that the city has been eying the property for some time, as they learned that it would be going into foreclosure. Cuyahoga County will transfer foreclosed properties to cities, if no one else wants them, said Jordan. They originally had a policy that foreclosed properties would automatically go the city. Annual Pet Fair pays homage to our animal friends – whether furry, feathery or scaly

The City Green is going to the dogs August 6 when the annual Pet Fair returns for its 12th year from 1 to 4 p.m. Though mainly geared towards caring for man’s best friend, the Pet Fair honors all animal companions and family pets with vendor booths, special appearances, family activities and crafts. EMS Levy on November ballot for second time

City Council adopted legislation at its July 18 meeting that will place a replacement levy on the November 7 election. The five-year, $1.7 mill EMS levy would replace the current $1.7 mill levy which expires at the end of 2018. If passed, the city will collect an additional $639,553. This will be the second time that this issue would be on the ballot. The levy continues to help pay for the program, helping to fund the salaries of the city’s thirty firefighters/paramedics, equipment and operation of that part of the Fire Department. RTA offers a transportation alternative

Although bus transportation in North Royalton has dwindled over the past years, the Greater Cleveland Transit Authority (RTA) is now offering a different transportation solution: RTA VanShare. This new program is an addition to RTA’s other transportation options, such as bus, rapid transit, Park-n-Ride bus, free downtown trolley service and ADA Paratransit service. “RTA wants to offer residents as many transportation choices as possible, to improve their mobility,” said RTA CEO and General Manager, Joe Calabrese. Old City Hall ground is filled, graded and seeded

City leaders are looking to expand the old city hall project, on the City Green, located on Royalton Road between Ridge and Bennett Roads. The building was vacated in 2014, when the city’s administration moved to the old library building on State Road. The old city hall came down on July 11. The Tenth JOA picnic was held at the German Central Farm on July 8. The shadows lengthened as the evening wore on, the weather was perfect, there was music, food, face painting, tons of well stuffed raffle baskets, Nerf wars in the woods, hole-in-one, Dunkin-dolly, and a good cause to fight for. Monthly water/sewer bill will come from Div. of Water starting in August

Residents will see their final sewer bill from the City of North Royalton next week. Starting in August, residents will see a bill from the City of Cleveland, Division of Water, that will cover both the water and sewer bills. The city has been billing its residents since 2003, according to Mayor Bob Stefanik. The combined bill will be a monthly bill.
