Rookies star under the lights

The “Little League” season for the North Royalton Baseball Boosters is coming to an end. While some teams are involved in the playoffs, the 5-and-6 year old league, known as ‘‘the Rookies,” brought their season to a close in a unique way. Instead of playing the final game on one of the two fields in the middle of the York Road complex, the eight teams got to play under the lights at Diamonds #4 and 5. School District provides updated strategic plan

North Royalton City Schools Director of Curriculum, Melissa Vojta, and Pat Farrell, Director of Personnel, gave a presentation at the July School Board meeting on the district’s three-year Strategic Plan, highlighting the key areas that will direct the initiatives of the district throughout the next three years. 11th Annual Pet Carnival is this weekend – Bring your 4-legged friends for a fun and happy time

Join us at the top of the hill on the City Green this August 7 for the 11th Annual Pet Carnival. That Sunday the event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m., rain or shine. This annual celebration of community, family, and pets, hosted by Dr. Adam Hechko and the North Royalton Animal Hospital, attracts hundreds of animal lovers and four-legged friends from as far away as Akron and Canton. Rash of home crime reported in area

What does a barn fire, car break-ins, a mail box fire and sheds set afire have in common? Maybe nothing, or maybe a link. North Royalton Safety Director Bruce Campbell said that the North Royalton Police Department is in the middle of investigating a large number of incidents that have taken place last month. Residents show appreciation to North Royalton’s finest

It’s not Christmas in July at the North Royalton Police Department, but it seems like it could be, with gifts arriving daily lately. Residents and area businesses have shown appreciation for North Royalton’s finest after recent police shootings nationwide. According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, 69 police officers have been shot to death so far this year, 19 in July. In Ohio, three officers died in the line of duty and one K-9 dog. Colorful banners around town promote city pride

Around town, you might already be seeing colorful banners around the city and school areas. These were erected to show off North Royalton pride. Banners from the City, Schools, Chamber of Commerce and Royalton Recorder are placed along Royalton, Ridge and State Roads. School District seeks private grants for proposed facilities overhaul

The North Royalton School District is working with a consulting group to explore the possibilities of private fund-raising to assist help to offset the cost of their proposed facilities plan. They have entered into a contract with Hudson-based, The Hodge Group, to explore private philanthropic fund-raising. The proposed plan includes the construction of an elementary school and the updating/addition to the Middle School and High School. The measure will be placed on the November 8 ballot. NEORSD to offer storm water management fee credit workshops

Now that all of North Royalton will be billed for the Northeast Regional Storm water Program, some residents may be looking to get a credit on their bill. The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) will start to bill residents for the new program in mid-September, giving them just a little more time to seek credits for their bill. All property owners will be billed, based on the total impervious surface of their property. That category is broken down into three tiers. Tier 1 is a surface of less than 2,000 square feet. Players and coaches prepare for a new football season

It may be the middle of summer, but the North Royalton High School football team is getting ready for the 2016 regular season. At this time of year, the Bears and other high school teams across the state of Ohio are participating in what’s called 7-on-7 practices. The only players not on the field for these practices are both the offensive and defensive lines. It gives offenses a chance to work on their pass plays while the defense gets to work on their pass defense schemes.
