City looking for input on Bennett Road path

North Royalton’s Engineering Department is looking for input from residents regarding the continuance of the Bennett Road path that currently runs from Royalton Road, south to South Akins Road. The proposed project will extend the path/sidewalk on that western side of Bennett Road, from South Akins Road, south, connecting it to Valley Parkway. The original portion of the path was installed when Bennett Road was reconstructed in 2012. City focuses on buying 15 license plate reading cameras

Plans are being made to purchase license plate reading cameras that will surveil fifteen areas around North Royalton, according to Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz. The North Royalton City Council again discussed the measure at its February 15 Safety Committee Meeting. “It will help our department,” said Antoskiewicz, “almost like putting another set of eyes. Padua Franciscan High School’s Figure Skating Team won the Ohio High School Team Figure Skating Championship on Sunday, February 6, at Thornton Park in Shaker Heights. They claimed their tenth state title in school history. (Past championship years include: 2019, 2018, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2011, 2010 and 2008.) Paul Marnecheck hired as Brookpark Economic Development Head

North Royalton Council President Paul Marnecheck was recently hired as the Economic Development Commissioner for the City of Brookpark. His hiring was announced at the Brookpark City Council meeting on February 1. Marnecheck served North Royalton as the Ward 4 City Councilman from December 2009 to December 2019. Number of white-tailed deer has been steadily declining

With the recent close of the deer hunting season, the North Royalton numbers are in. With this season’s end, North Royalton Chief of Police, Keith Tarase, reported the 2021-22 season’s update to the Council Safety Committee at their February 15 meeting. School Board approves sale of Valley Vista land

The North Royalton Board of Education voted to approve the sale of the Valley Vista School property to a Cleveland-based development company at their February 14 monthly School Board meeting. The Board had resolved to sell the property at their July 12, 2021 meeting. Valley Vista, Albion and Royal View were the three elementary school properties that were vacated with the opening of the new North Royalton Elementary School in fall, 2021. NRHS celebrates Pride in Academics for second quarter

North Royalton High School staff celebrated their students’ second quarter success in person and with their families on February 10 in the new Community Room. Families were treated to a breakfast with muffins, fruit cups, coffee and juice. Emma Kmet celebrates 107th birthday

On January 31, 1915, North Royalton was not quite 100 years old when a future North Royalton resident was born to Suzanna and Paul Demian in the Tremont area of Cleveland. They named their new addition, Emma Blanche Demian. Tremont at that time was positively cosmopolitan. Emma’s dad owned a corner meat and grocery store and later did furniture repair and refinishing for Cleveland’s high-end furniture stores. County to rebuild the West 130 Street bridge

The bridge that spans the east branch of the Rocky River on West 130 Street is scheduled to be rebuilt by Cuyahoga County next year. West 130 Street is shared by North Royalton and Strongsville, as it is the boundary between both cities. North Royalton City Council recently adopted an ordinance that recognizes the need and purpose of improvement. It gives consent to Cuyahoga County to participate in the cost of the construction.
