One resident perishes from house fire

A North Royalton resident has passed away after being rescued from a house fire on Sunday, October 18. A call came in at about 1:10 p.m. to the North Royalton Fire Department regarding a house fire at the 13200 block of State Road. A 79-year-old resident and her 57-year-old daughter were trapped in the house. “We had some passersby call 911 after they saw the fire on the street side of the house,” according to North Royalton Fire Chief Bob Chegan. Building totaled after driver in burning car drives into gas station

On Thursday, October 8, at about 4:20 p.m., a call came in to the North Royalton Fire Department as a vehicle fire. North Royalton Fire Chief Robert Chegan responded with the crew, and came to realize that the car was on fire, as well as the building. According to North Royalton Police reports, a Parma resident was traveling east on Wallings Road when the interior of the car he was driving began to fill with smoke. Dollar store moratorium legislation is adopted

North Royalton City Council unanimously adopted legislation that places a temporary moratorium on small box discount stores across the city. The measure was introduced by Ward 2 Council Representative Linda Barath, Ward 1 Council Representative Jessica Fenos, and Ward 3 Council Representative Joanne Krejci. It was also co-sponsored by Council President, Paul Marnecheck. Originally, Council discussed the matter to place the moratorium only in the city’s Town Center District (TCD). Pandemic doesn’t overshadow church’s annual day of service

NRHS Installs Wall of Fame Interactive Kiosk in New Wing

As part of the North Royalton High School construction project, the District installed a 65-in. Wall of Fame kiosk (location in the building) that will display present and historical content. The community will be able to electronically access yearbooks, class photos, commencement programs electronically as well as click on other categories including athletics, academics, history, clubs/activities, arts, distinguished alumni and District-wide information. Community preparing to provide much-needed aid during Thanksgiving, Christmas

There’s been a “new normal” for just about everything in the seven months since the pandemic started, and the community is on the brink of another learning curve – navigating the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. North Royalton City Schools Installs Stop Arm Cameras to School Buses

North Royalton City Schools’ mechanics have begun the installation of stop arm cameras to 13 of its District buses. These cameras are mounted on the exterior of the bus and give a clear view of the license plates of any vehicles illegally passing our stopped buses. This will be used, in addition to the driver’s report, to help the police issue citations to these drivers. After the District receives its nine new buses, there will be 22 total buses with stop arm cameras, which equals approximately one-third of its fleet. New music rooms dedicated to longtime Saint Albert the Great parishioner, advocate

As construction continues on the new Parish Life Center, the community of Saint Albert the Great Church turned its attention recently to the dedication of three newly opened music rooms at its parochial school. The new rooms, which previously served as garage space, have been reconstructed to include one large music room and two smaller practice rooms. They are dedicated to Dr. Ferris Anthony, a longtime parishioner and supporter of the Walling Road church.
