Utility projects add to construction woes

In addition to all the road construction going on this year, two water main replacement projects and a gas line replacement project are also taking place. One project will tie up a part of State Road, one, a section of Royalton Road, and the third, a portion of Ridge Road. Utility construction is an ongoing thing, as the aging infrastructure needs to be rehabilitated and replaced. NEORSD to raze two Sprague Road homes

The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District recently purchased two homes at 4473 and 4485 Sprague Road. The homes, which are located near Thornhurst Drive, will be razed in order to conduct a stream restoration project that is expected to address flooding and erosion issues. The project is a part of the NEORSD’s Regional Stormwater Management Program. Abbey Road closed for 30 days during Route 82 Widening

Although there are construction projects all over town, the main project is still the Rt. 82 widening project, which affects the main thoroughfare of North Royalton. The Rt. 82 widening project converts Royalton Road, which runs east/west through North Royalton, from a two lane road to a three lane road, with six-foot sidewalks and seven-foot tree lawns one each side, as well as two 15-foot lanes and an 11-foot turning lane, completing a span of 78 feet. Love of reading leads to Eagle Scout library project

North Royalton Boy Scout Evan Porter wanted to share his love of reading while trying to attain the highest rank of the Boy Scout organization - Eagle Scout. He recently completed a Little Free Library at Memorial Park at 14600 State Road. Porter is a member of Boy Scout Troop 526. He officially attained the rank of Eagle Scout on June 11. The North Royalton Board of Education held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, June 10. The Board announced the resignation of Dr. Susan Clark from the Board, effective June 26. County warns of Social Security scams

A new scam is being reported by the Cuyahoga County Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) Scam Squad. Someone is calling and posing as a Social Security employee or law enforcement officer, saying the intended victims are about to be arrested because their Social Security number was linked to a drug crime in a border state. Dr. Susan Clark resigns seat on Board of Education, causing vacancy

North Royalton City Schools Board Member, Dr. Susan G. Clark, will be resigning her seat on the Board of Education effective June 26, 2019. Dr. Clark is the University of Akron’s recipient of a Fulbright Core Teaching Scholarship and will be moving to Norway, affiliated with Østfold University College in Oslo. Clark said she will be teaching high school teachers and students in schools throughout the country about American Education Law, the constitution and school culture. City purchases county-owned property

The City of North Royalton recently received word that their bid to purchase property owned by Cuyahoga County was accepted. The York Road property belongs to the Cuyahoga County Engineer’s Office. The property is zoned (PF) Public Facility. The road and bridge maintenance facility property, located at 4875 York Road, is one of four properties, including two garages in Cleveland and an engineering building in Valley View, that the county is selling.
