Royalton pays tribute to Military Veterans on Memorial Day

“I come every Memorial Day Ceremony to remember my brothers and sisters. I served in the Gulf War. I lost a number of friends and comrades. New Community Café offers free hot breakfast and warm fellowship to all

A new monthly ministry, “The Community Café,” will kick off next Tuesday, June 11, in the lower level hall of Saint Albert the Great Church. City and Chamber betting Vegas trips will produce more business

Last month, Mayor Bob Stefanik and Community Development Director Tom Jordan were in Las Vegas, as they have for several years in May, attending a conference for retail and restaurants. The conference, the Global Retail Real Estate Convention (RECon), took place from May 19 to 22, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The two attended the event in the hopes of drumming up business for several retail areas in the city. A portion of the trip is made possible through the North Royalton Chamber of Commerce, who has been subsidizing the cost of entry to the conference for about eight years. ....

Council looks at problematic intersections

Problematic Intersections have been a topic of conversations for many years and have recently been discussed in the North Royalton Council Safety Committee. Specifically, they have been talking about the intersections of Ridge Road at Royalwood and Julia and the intersection of York and Albion Roads. County approves ban on plastic bags to take effect on Jan. 1, 2020

Members of the Cuyahoga County Council approved a ban on disposable plastic shopping bags at their May 28 Council meeting, after the legislation was amended that will extend the time for when the measure will be enacted. The legislation was introduced by County Council members District 11 Sunny M. Simon and District 2 Dale Miller on April 9. The ban will take effect on January 1, 2020. The original legislation had the start date as October 1, 2019, but was changed to allow those retail establishments time to prepare for and adjust to the change. Ground prepared for new elementary school building

The North Royalton School District Building project is in full swing. “Work is progressing on our two construction sites, said North Royalton School Superintendent Greg Gurka. Generous community awards scholarships to 104 seniors

The 82nd annual North Royalton Local Scholarship and Awards Ceremony was held on May 9 at the North Royalton High School Dan Calabrese Center for the Performing Arts. Scholarships totaling more than $87,000 were presented to 104 high school seniors by business owners, civic organizations and individuals. School Board News

The May meeting of the North Royalton Board of Education took place on Monday, May 13. Reno Contipelli, from the Ohio School Board Association presented an OSBA Master Board Member award to North Royalton School Board member Jackie Arendt. He noted that only four of these awards were given in the state. He also praised the other Board members for their efforts of continuing education, which is voluntary.
