Community gardens are ready for planting season

North Royalton residents who love to garden can gain a further sense of community by joining the community garden. North Royalton is lucky enough to have two! The North Royalton Community Garden and the NCC Gardens, hosted by the NCC Solutions, Incorporated. Both are organic gardens, that provide water and the tools necessary for successful gardening. St. Matthew the Evangelist Church begins new build following fire

The parish of St. Matthew the Evangelist Church is starting to rebuild after a fire took place at their Albion Road location in November, 2017. The final site plan was unanimously approved at the North Royalton Planning Commission at their April 3 meeting. St. Matthews has been in North Royalton for 27 years. They purchased the church then and installed an addition about 17 years ago. They have about 250 parishioners from all over the west and south side. Warmer weather means start of 2019 Road Projects

Just as you can be sure that spring will bring beautiful flowers, so can you be sure that road work in the city will begin. The April meeting of the North Royalton Board of Education took place on Monday, April 8. Saturday, April 27, is Medication Take-Back Day in North Royalton. This event has been established to not only prevent accidental poisoning and misuse, but to also protect the environment. Grant geared toward educating residents on the importance of recycling

The City of North Royalton was again awarded a Community Recycling Awareness Grant for 2019 from the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District. According to county officials, the purpose of this grant is “to help communities educate residents about recycling, typically through the use of printed materials such as brochures, refrigerator magnets, newsletters and fliers or calendars. Elementary school building construction goes forward, ground breaking takes place for high school construction project

The North Royalton City School District was finally able to start their construction project of the new elementary school. The project had been placed on hold as the district waited for permits from the Army Corps of Engineers and one through the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The additional permits required were due to the wetlands on the school’s building site, which is located at the southwest corner of State Road and Valley Parkway. Meet Bear, N R Police Department’s new K-9 officer

The North Royalton Police Department has a new recruit and his name is Bear. The one-year-old German Shepherd was selected on March 15 and named by the force. He is the first K-9 the department has had in almost twenty years. Bear is the second dog chosen for this program. The first dog, which was chosen several weeks ago had to be returned, as he had a hernia. North Royalton’s K-9 program was re-instituted after a grant was received through the Ben Roethlisberger Foundation in the amount of $12,800, which will fund the cost of the dog, kennels and a bulletproof vest for the dog.
