Meet Bear, N R Police Department’s new K-9 officer

The North Royalton Police Department has a new recruit and his name is Bear. The one-year-old German Shepherd was selected on March 15 and named by the force. He is the first K-9 the department has had in almost twenty years. Bear is the second dog chosen for this program. The first dog, which was chosen several weeks ago had to be returned, as he had a hernia. North Royalton’s K-9 program was re-instituted after a grant was received through the Ben Roethlisberger Foundation in the amount of $12,800, which will fund the cost of the dog, kennels and a bulletproof vest for the dog. Springtime is reminder to share the roadways

Spring has arrived and recreational areas like the Cleveland Metroparks are beginning to welcome more visitors after the long cold winter. Holy Week production “Tetélestai,” coming to Royal Redeemer

The first time Doug Nicholl saw “Tetélestai,” a musical portrayal of the trial, execution and resurrection of Jesus Christ, he was so moved by the performance that he decided to audition for a role. Performed by Cleveland Performing Arts Ministries, “Tetélestai” will be performed at 8 p.m. April 18 and 19 at Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church on Royalton Road. “Tetélestai,” which translates from Greek to mean “It Is Finished,” are the last words Jesus spoke before dying on the cross. Patrolman indicted after charges are challenged

On March 8, a veteran police officer in the North Royalton Police Department was indicted on perjury, tampering with evidence and falsification. He was previously investigated after a judge’s ruling last fall that challenged his charges of an OVI. In April, 2018, a man was pulled over for a tinted window violation and a non-operating license plate light. The man was ultimately charged for those two misdemeanors, as well as OVI, Failure to Comply with Order or Signal of Police Officer and Resisting Arrest. Valley Vista Elementary holds “Out of This World” art show

Valley Vista Elementary showcased students’ artistic talents at their art show on February 21. The theme for the show followed the reading theme in the classroom, which was “Out of this World.” Each grade level was responsible for creating a project that dealt with space. Kindergartners learned hand coloring and intricate cutting skills when making astronauts. First graders used neon paint and paper for their neon Alien UFOs. New produce market to serve seniors and those meeting low income criteria
