The March meeting of the North Royalton Board of Education took place on Monday, March 11. The following building presentations were given: Royal View and Valley Vista Elementary: The Board recognized the Bears Den class meetings taking place in our elementary schools throughout the year, which are a part of the bully prevention program, which started with the 2015-16 school year. City earns Auditor of State Award

The city of North Royalton recently earned the Auditor of State Award. A presentation was given to North Royalton Finance Director Eric Dean and Council President Larry Antoskiewicz by State Auditor Keith Faber on February 21 in order to recognize the city for thorough and accurate records keeping. Antoskiewicz is the Chairman of the North Royalton City Council Finance Committee. School construction adds to city’s traffic woes

In addition to the traffic tie ups on the western portion of Royalton Road, the center part of town, near Ridge and Royalton Roads will also be compromised, due to the construction update of the North Royalton High School. The good news is that in the end, the city will see a widened Royalton Road and updated North Royalton School District buildings. Starting tomorrow, March 22, residents will see the North Royalton High School/Middle School parking lot transformed into a construction site. City looks to decrease energy costs

City Council held a special Finance Committee meeting where a presentation was delivered on recommendations of a recent energy audit. Two options were given for their consideration. Ultimately, the city is looking to reduce operating costs through energy conservation improvement projects. “We’re always looking to reduce our energy costs,” said Mayor Bob Stefanik. New K-9 officer awaits his partner

Plans for the new K-9 unit for the North Royalton Police Department is in full swing. North Royalton Safety Director Bruce Campbell said that the new officer for the unit has been named and the dog will be selected soon. The program was re-instituted after a grant was received through the Ben Roethlisberger Foundation, which provided a $12,800 grant, which will fund the cost of the dog, kennels and a bulletproof vest for the dog.
