November Storm leaves many with damage and without power

Harsh winds and rain rolled into northeast Ohio in the early evening of November 5, when a cold front moved across the Great Lakes. The National Weather Service reported a confirmed 14 tornadoes across northern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. In addition, there were a large number of areas, such as North Royalton, with straight-line wind damage. “Unseasonably warm and humid air was in place across the region ahead of the front. The cold front gradually progressed across the Ohio Valley and thunderstorms initiated and swept east ahead of the front,” according to the National Weather Service ....

Home burglar takes life of family pet

Two North Royalton homes were recently burglarized. One home was broken into and the family pet was shot to death. Both burglaries took place during the day. Police were called to a home on Castle Drive on Friday, November 10, at about 3:30 p.m. The resident came home to find that the house had been ransacked and the family dog, a young German shepherd, had been shot. The house was forcefully entered. Another house on Dogwood Trail was also burglarized the next afternoon. Police do not think the two are related. On the first burglary, police are looking for a older, light colored SUV, white ....

On October 29, 2017, the final deconsecration service of the North Royalton United Methodist Church (NRUMC) was held with current and former members and pastors. NRUMC was a vital part of the community for 181 years. City seeking funding to further transportation options

The North Royalton City Council unanimously adopted legislation that would authorize the Mayor to submit an application to help promote transportation options that were targeted in the city’s Alternative Transportation Plan. The application asks for $121,000 from the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) funding through the Transportation for Livable Communities Initiative. The requested funding would extend the multi-use path that runs from Rt. 82, south, to North Akins Road on Bennett Road.
