Arson being investigated on Gabriella Drive house

On Thursday morning, October 19, at 8:05 a.m., a call came in to the North Royalton Fire Department regarding a house on Gabriella Drive that was on fire. It is believed that the fire was intentionally set. “Smoke was coming from the eaves,” said North Royalton Fire Chief Bob Chegan. He said that once the Fire Department, Station 2, arrived at 8:08 a.m., they found that multiple fires were set in the home at 10023 Gabriella Drive. The house had been broken into and several fires had been set. The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Arson is suspected to be the cause of the blaz ....

St. Albert Day of Service brings out 2000+ volunteers

More than 1,900 parishioners of Saint Albert the Great Church completed nearly 200 volunteer projects as part of the Catholic church’s annual Day of Service event. Now in its fifth year, the two-day Day of Service event, held this year on October 13 and 14, invited parishioners, school children and their families to sign-up and participate in a service project. Twelve bands “toot their horns” at NRHS-hosted Festival of Bands

They arrived, all 4,000 of them. Band members from twelve high schools from the east, west, and south; as well as the devoted band parents, supporters, and band enthusiasts enjoyed an evening of pure marching band delight. The weather was something you wish for and rarely get; not too hot, not too chilly, dry, clear, and completely uninterrupted by the whistles of any football referees. Construction manager chosen for School Facility Project

The North Royalton Board of Education has chosen Canton’s Hammond Construction, Incorporated to serve as the construction manager for the district’s facility project that includes construction, reconstruction and renovation of district schools. Cleveland’s Albert M. Higley Company, Providence, Rhode Island’s Gilbane Building Company and Mayfield’s Panzica Construction Company were also considered. Trapping of wild animals is now prohibited

City Council recently adopted legislation that prohibits the trapping of wild animals. The ordinance amends the city’s codified ordinances Part 6 General Offenses Code, Chapter 618 Animals, Section 618.12 Hunting Prohibited. Mayor Bob Stefanik said that the amendment came about after some residents reported placed traps in their front yards, near the street, where children could have been injured.
