NR City Schools eyes adding a K9 Support Dog

North Royalton Police Department School Resource Officer (SRO), Alexandra Jezior recently addressed City Council, formally requesting to start a K9 Therapy Program through the North Royalton Police Department to be used in North Royalton Schools. The presentation took place at the February 21 Council Safety Committee meeting. Jezior said the program would be utilized primarily at the North Royalton City Schools, St. Albert the Great School and Royal Redeemer School. The North Royalton Board of Education’s monthly School Board meeting took place on Monday, February 13. Assistant Superintendent Melissa Vojta gave a presentation regarding the Literacy Team. The Board approved a one-time amendment to the current employment contract of School Superintendent, Michael K. Laub, Jr. for the limited purpose of assisting for his relocation into the district. One School One Book kicks off at NR Elementary School

During the month of February, North Royalton Elementary School (NRES) is embarking on a special project: an all school book club. Every family has received a copy of the same book, Betty G. Birney's, “The World According to Humphrey,” which they will read at home throughout February. The school hosted an assembly on Jan. 27 to kick off the program. Police warn to beware of potential scams

The North Royalton Police Department (NRPD) recently posted a potential scam that has been circulating of late. They recommend that residents be alerted to the circumstance. This potential scam is posted on the NRPD’s Facebook page, and it is regarding the sale of counterfeit merchandise. City plans events for 2023

Even though it’s only February, the City Event Committee is hard at work to plan and organize the list of city-sponsored events for 2023. This will be the second year the Committee has assembled to offer opportunities for residents to gather as neighbors of North Royalton The first event will take place in April, with what was called the Easter Parade. This year, it will be called an Easter Tour, where the Easter Bunny will appear at pre-selected stops to visit with the children, according to Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz.
