Council eyes strict laws for failing to stop for school bus
The North Royalton City Council is discussing a stricter penalty for those who fail to stop for a school bus in the process of dropping children. At the March 15 Council Safety Committee Meeting, North Royalton Police Chief Keith Tarase reported that Police have issued 15 school bus citations so far this year. Last year, even though school was not open for a portion of the school year, it was reported that 22 citations were issued, according to North Royalton Law Director Tom Kelly. Some residents have noticed two taller-than-average-sized poles that have been erected on Ridge and State Roads. The two poles have an antenna attached to the top. What are they? The poles and antenna are part of The Illuminating Company’s Grid Modernization Plan, which is a three-year investment to modernize the state’s electric distribution systems. Council discusses City fireworks legislation
The North Royalton City Council has been discussing whether to continue to ban the setting off of fireworks in the city, yield to the recent state law adoption, legalizing fireworks on certain days, or a hybrid. When North Royalton voters go to vote on the May 3 primary election, the positions of Ohio House, Ohio Senate and State Central Committee will not be included. That is because the voting districts for those positions have not yet been determined, as the maps have yet to be approved that the Ohio Supreme Court will accept.
