The August meeting of the North Royalton Board of Education took place on Monday, August 21.
The Board resolved to appoint North Royalton School Superintendent, Michael Laub, or his designee, as the Board’s Hearing Officer, for all suspension hearings and expulsions
The Board approved the following account: 200-987B High School Class of 2027 High School 9th Grade 019-9024 Veale Foundation Grant (Veale Youth Entrepreneurship Forum)
The Board agreed to enter into annual financial statement services with the Local Government Services Section of the Office of the Auditor of State as of and for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024, for an annual cost anticipated not to exceed $14,450.00.
Assistant Superintendent Melissa Voijta reported on a teacher transition report for the new school year, highlighting the Human Resources Department. North Royalton School Superintendent Mike Laub reported on the beginning of the new school year. He noted that “we found really good people because we began our staffing in December and January and we were posted in February before everybody else was figuring out what they were doing and I’m proud we did that.”
The Board accepted a resolution upon the retirement of Kathleen Suhar, as well as the following resignations:

The Board approved the participation in the 2023-24 Free and Reduced Breakfast and Lunch Program of the State of Ohio Department of Education.
The Board approved the bus stops for the 2023-24 school year.
The Board approved the following trip proposal:

The Board accepted and acknowledged the following gifts/donations:
-The Veale Foundation donated $10,000 to North Royalton High School to be used for the planning and implementation of entrepreneurship programs during the 2023-24 school year.
-The North Royalton Soccer Club donated $3,000 to the North Royalton High School girls’ soccer team for expenses associated with the trip to Columbus.
-Aggie Ozello donated scrapbooking and art supplies, valued at approximately $600, to the art program at North Royalton High School.
-Raising Cane’s in Strongsville donated 500 achievement certificates for a kids combo and 600 bookmarks to North Royalton Elementary School for the PBIS program.
-Chick-fil-A donated 50 sweet treat certificates to North Royalton Elementary School for the PBIS program.
-Dairy Queen of Parma donated 200 mini golf certificates and 200 ice cream cone certificates to North Royalton Elementary School for the PBIS program.
The next regular board meeting will take place on Monday, Sept. 11, at the North Royalton High School Community Room.
