Transportation Officials Look for Local Opinions on I-71

Two meetings have been scheduled to gain input from residents in North Royalton, Strongsville and Brunswick regarding traffic concerns regarding the I-71 corridor that affects traffic to the three cities. The meetings are being conducted surrounding the I-71 Crossroads Regional Transportation Study, which was mandated to be completed in 2026 as part of the State’s biennial budget mandate. The study is being jointly conducted by the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). NRHS Marching Band earns 35th Consecutive Superior Rating

On Saturday, October 25, the North Royalton High School Marching Band traveled to Columbus to participate in the OMEA State Marching Band Finals. Here, the 240 member Band earned the highest rating possible, and earned their 35th Consecutive Superior Rating at the State Marching Band Finals.  This is the result of a lot of hard work both by the students and band staff. School Superintendent Mike Laub to retire, return to Avon

North Royalton School Superintendent Mike Laub will be leaving the School District upon his retirement in August, 2026. Laub has been serving as the North Royalton City School District Superintendent since July 1, 2021. At the September 11 School Board meeting, the Board initiated procedures under Ohio law for the retirement and re-employment of Michael Laub, who is employed in the position of Superintendent and has submitted his notice of retirement from employment effective the end of business day on August 1, 2026. Royal Redeemer’s “Servant Saturday” gives back to community

Volunteers from Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church gathered on October 4 for a biannual event known as Servant Saturday, a day dedicated to serving neighbors and spreading goodwill throughout the community. Pets receive blessing on Feast of St. Francis of Assisi

St. Albert the Great Parish celebrated the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi with the Blessing of the Pets on Sunday, October 5. Pets are like family members, but with four legs, or two legs or no legs. All pet species were welcomed at the annual pet blessing. In past years, some unusual pets came, a mini horse arrived in a minivan, and a small pot-bellied pig arrived on a leash. City to change dispatch service provider

The City of North Royalton has made the decision to change the provider of their emergency dispatch services from Strongsville to the Chagrin Valley Regional Dispatch. This comes after the City of Strongsville announced that they will no longer be providing the service starting early next year. The City of North Royalton had received correspondence from Strongsville Mayor Thomas P. Perciak dated July 30 of the termination. 2025 City road projects nearing completion

Now that fall is here, the road projects of the 2025 Road Maintenance Program throughout the City have either been completed or are close to completion. Every year, the City develops a plan of the roads that are in the most need and sets a budget to complete those projects. There are a few projects, however, that are ongoing, so motorists should take note. This year, the City had budgeted $1,861,733 for road reconstruction. Stoney Creek gas leak to be addressed

Residents in the Stoney Creek area have been calling the North Royalton Fire Department about a natural gas smell for some time. Some have questioned whether it poses a flammable danger. North Royalton Fire Chief Bob Chegan noted that the leak in question is in the process of being addressed by Columbia Gas and that there is no danger with this particular leak. Chegan said that the North Royalton Fire Department has gas meters that show if the leak is in the flammable range.
