The March meeting of the North Royalton Board of Education took place on Monday, March 13. Board member, Heidi Dolezal was absent. The Board approved the all-day kindergarten fees for the 2023-24 school year at $2,500 per year, which was increased from $2,100, the previous year. The Board approved an agreement with Julian & Grube, Incorporated for procedures for the Medicaid School Program costs requests for the fiscal years ending June 30, 2024 and June 30, 2025. School District plans facilities project improvements

Recently, North Royalton School Superintendent Mike Laub gave an update to the North Royalton School Board on a number of improvement projects that are taking place throughout the District’s facilities and grounds. Laub gave a listing of permanent improvement projects that will be targeted for this year, stating some of the following: Board office conference room update: This project has been started and is expected to be done this summer. NR Stadium Foundation donates $370,000 for stadium renovations

At the March 13 North Royalton Board of Education meeting, members of the North Royalton Stadium Foundation presented a check for $370,000 to be used for upcoming stadium renovations. The renovation project will include the full replacement of the turf playing surface. This project will begin on May 31, 2023, and will be completed in time for the upcoming fall season. The Stadium Foundation is a group of citizens, Booster Club representatives and school officials. Council appoints Heidi Webber to fill Ward 5 vacancy

Ward 5 residents in North Royalton again have permanent representation. Woodridge Drive resident, Heidi Mallory Webber, 48, was approved by the North Royalton City Council at their special meeting, on Monday, March 13, which included an executive session, prior to the vote. Webber was one of three Ward 5 residents who were interviewed for the position at a special meeting on Saturday, March 11. Council approves Storefront Renovation Rebate Program

The North Royalton City Council unanimously approved the renewal of the City’s Storefront Renovation Rebate Program at their latest meeting. The program is designed to assist some business owners in the City with the improvement of the facades of their storefronts or assist in correcting exterior code violations. Banner Program honoring NR Military Vets continues

The third cycle of the North Royalton Hometown Heroes Banner Program is now accepting applications. The deadline to have your father, mother or any family member who served in the military honored through the program is Friday, March 17. If you are a motorist along State Route 82 (Royalton Road), you probably have noticed these banners. They are hung from utility poles during the summer and fall months. NR City Schools eyes adding a K9 Support Dog

North Royalton Police Department School Resource Officer (SRO), Alexandra Jezior recently addressed City Council, formally requesting to start a K9 Therapy Program through the North Royalton Police Department to be used in North Royalton Schools. The presentation took place at the February 21 Council Safety Committee meeting. Jezior said the program would be utilized primarily at the North Royalton City Schools, St. Albert the Great School and Royal Redeemer School. The North Royalton Board of Education’s monthly School Board meeting took place on Monday, February 13. Assistant Superintendent Melissa Vojta gave a presentation regarding the Literacy Team. The Board approved a one-time amendment to the current employment contract of School Superintendent, Michael K. Laub, Jr. for the limited purpose of assisting for his relocation into the district. That contract period ends July 31, 2024. The 2023-2024 contract (the last year of the current three-year, initial contract) will include a $25,000 relocation adjustment. One School One Book kicks off at NR Elementary School

During the month of February, North Royalton Elementary School (NRES) is embarking on a special project: an all school book club. Every family has received a copy of the same book, Betty G. Birney's, “The World According to Humphrey,” which they will read at home throughout February. The school hosted an assembly on Jan. 27 to kick off the program. Police warn to beware of potential scams

The North Royalton Police Department (NRPD) recently posted a potential scam that has been circulating of late. They recommend that residents be alerted to the circumstance. This potential scam is posted on the NRPD’s Facebook page, and it is regarding the sale of counterfeit merchandise.
