Huntington Bank at North Royalton Giant Eagle is robbed

At about 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, North Royalton Police were called to the Huntington Bank, located inside the North Royalton Giant Eagle, where a robbery was reported. According to North Royalton Police Detective, David Loeding, the suspect displayed a note to the teller, which read “give me all the money. If you do anything, I’ll shoot you.” The teller then handed over an undisclosed amount of cash. The robber then reportedly said “don’t call anyone, don’t do anything. The Bears Are Suburban League National Conference Boys Basketball Champions

The North Royalton Boys Basketball team had set Goal Number One when their off-season workouts took place during the summer months. The Goal: To win the Suburban League National Conference Championship. On February 14, the team was able to say “Mission Accomplished!” In front of a packed house at the Herman L. Joy Gymnasium, the Bears defeated Brecksville-Broadview Heights 58-45 to wrap up the title. City to sell old compost facility property

The North Royalton City Council unanimously adopted legislation that would allow the Mayor and Community Development Director to go out for bids for city-owned property on Royalton Road. “We no longer need it, so why have it,” said Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz. “If we don’t think we’re going to utilize it and we have to continue to pay for upkeep and such, why do it?” The city’s old compost facility, located on Royalton Road, near Abbey Road, has not been utilized for several years. New Council discusses changes to Deer Legislation

After Police Chief Ken Bilinovich gave City Council an update on the 2019 deer season statistics at the January meeting of the Council Safety Committee, Ward 4 Councilman Jeremy Dietrich stated that he thought the cost of the hunting permit should be reduced. “They are doing a favor for the city,” he noted, regarding the reduction of the deer population. Council squashes Cell Tower Proposal

A proposal to place a cell tower on city-owned property has been squashed. The measure, introduced at the December 3 City Council meeting, ended with the legislation being withdrawn at the February 18 City Council Meeting by Council President Paul Marnecheck. The proposal for a lease agreement with the city was brought to City Hall in December by Cellco Partnership, doing business as Verizon Wireless.
