City walks away with grant to fund sidewalk project

The city of North Royalton has again been awarded a grant to fund a sidewalk project. Mayor Bob Stefanik recently announced the award, which was one of two applications made. This will be the third in recent years. The grant was in the amount of $100,000, and was awarded through the Transportation for Livable Community Initiative (TLCI), administered through the Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA). The section of the sidewalk will run from Memorial Park on State Road, south, to Akins Road. The second application for $205,000 would have extended that sidewalk from Akins Road, south ....

New entrance will beautify our cemetery

The facelift of the North Royalton Cemetery continues. Those driving by on Royalton Road will see that a structure is being erected at the entrance. That structure being built will become a wrought iron style archway over the entryway, which will read “North Royalton Cemetery Est. 1866.” That archway will rest on brick pillars. The cost of the archway will be about $60,000, which was carried over from last year’s budget, according to North Royalton Finance Director, Eric Dean. Royalton Hills Lions bring ‘sunshine’ to area senior citizens

Together with members of North Royalton High School Key Club, the Royalton Hills Lions Club is working to make the lives of those in local assisted living facilities a little brighter. Members of the two service organizations painted and assembled more than 300 window art suncatchers for the residents of Royalton Woods, The Pavilion (formerly Mount Royal Villa), Diplomat Healthcare and Deaconess-Perry Center. North Royalton residents who love to garden can gain a further sense of community by joining the community garden. North Royalton is lucky enough to have two! The North Royalton Community Garden and the NCC Gardens, hosted by the NCC Solutions, Incorporated. Both are organic gardens, that provide water and the tools necessary for successful gardening. St. Matthew the Evangelist Church begins new build following fire

The parish of St. Matthew the Evangelist Church is starting to rebuild after a fire took place at their Albion Road location in November, 2017. The final site plan was unanimously approved at the North Royalton Planning Commission at their April 3 meeting. St. Matthews has been in North Royalton for 27 years. They purchased the church then and installed an addition about 17 years ago. They have about 250 parishioners from all over the west and south side.
