Christmas has come early for 11-year-old Corlyn Stauffer, who was recently cast in the Great Lakes Theater production of “A Christmas Carol,” celebrating its 30th anniversary year and widely recognized as one of Cleveland’s favorite holiday traditions. Corlyn, the daughter of North Royalton Dance Academy Creative Director and Owner Amy Stauffer, has been cast as a Street Child and the “Swing,” a theater term that refers to a performer tasked with playing one or more roles when someone else is out due to illness or obligation. North Royalton Athletes to “Stuff the Bus” for Coats for Kids on Sat., Nov. 17
The North Royalton High School football players will coordinate the Ninth Annual Coats for Kids/Stuff the Bus event on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The community is asked to bring gently used coats and cash donations to the North Royalton Board of Education parking lot, 6579 Royalton Road, where the players will “stuff” a North Royalton school bus with the donations. This event benefits the children of Northeast Ohio and is a way for the North Royalton school community to give back to those in need. Who will open bicentennial time capsule in 2068?
North Royalton officially turned 200 years old on Oct. 27 and to celebrate the special event and close a summer-long bicentennial celebration, Mayor Robert Stefanik gathered with members of City Council, school leaders and those in civic and service organizations to bury a time capsule. Buried nearly two feet below ground beneath the commemorative brick patio outside the North Royalton Historical Society, the time capsule - a sturdy memorial box donated by Babitt-Busch Funeral and Crematory Services - will be unearthed in 50 years on Oct. 27, 2068, when the community celebrates its 250th birt ....
Law helps keep solicitor’s at bay
City Council recently adopted amendment’s to the codified ordinances relating to solicitors. The amendment clarified those who would be exempt in needing registration, as well as strengthening the penalty for those who do not adhere to the ordinance. City ordinances prohibits soliciting without a permit, issued by the North Royalton Police Department. In order to obtain a permit, which is valid for up to ninety days, an application must be made to the Police Department. Route 82 widening kicks into gear
About 25 people attended a recent public meeting on the recent update of the Rt. 82 widening project. The meeting took place on Tuesday, October 9, at Royal Redeemer Church, hosted by the Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works and contractor, DiGioia-Suburban Excavating, regarding the widening and reconstruction of sections of Royalton Road between West 130 Street and York Road.
