Wrestlers Make History at OHSAA Wrestling Tourney

The OHSAA’s 89th annual boys’ and 4th annual girls’ state wrestling tournament was held at The Jerome Schottenstein Center in Columbus from March 13-15. This year witnessed some history again for the North Royalton wrestling program. For the first time in the modern era, North Royalton not only qualified three individuals to the prestigious end of season tournament, but all three stood atop the podium on Sunday evening after the conclusion of the finals. City Council defeats Senior Development Proposal

The North Royalton City Council unanimously defeated a request that could have led to a senior development in the southern end of the city.  The proposed 120-unit assisted living complex was proposed for the Bennett’s Corners area. On February 4, the City’s Planning Commission defeated the preliminary site plan, proposed by Vermilion Ohio Acquisitions, LLC, on behalf of NR4C Ventures, LTD, but approved the Conditional Use Permit that would be necessary for the project to move forward.  A conditional use permit is an approval from the City that would allow a particular use on a parcel th ....

North Royalton Boys Basketball Team Makes it to Final Four

The Ohio High School Athletic Association's Division Two Basketball "Final Four" will have been played out by the time you read this edition of the Recorder.  You can read all about the game(s) in Dayton in our next edition. North Royalton won the Kent State Regional to qualify for the "Final Four" thanks to their 40-38 win over Brecksville-Broadview Heights.  Strange how things work out.  The Bears finished second behind the Bees in the Suburban League National Conference standings.  North Royalton lost to Brecksville twice in the regular season, 51-47 and 63-48. The March meeting of the North Royalton Board of Education took place on Thursday, March 12. The Board approved the following appropriation adjustments: Fund 401 Auxiliary Services from $727,971.36 to $731,301.07; Fund 300 District Managed Student Activity Fund from $680,000.00 to $700,000.00. Council looks for Ward 6 replacement following Wos’ resignation

The North Royalton City Council is in the process of looking for a replacement for the Ward 6 Council Representative position. NRHS Mock Trial Team Advances to State Competition

The North Royalton High School Mock Trial Team is headed to the state competition after an impressive showing at both District and Regional tournaments, continuing to build on the program’s rapid growth and success. This year’s case challenged students to tackle a timely and complex constitutional issue centered on the Fourth Amendment. 2025-2026 Deer Stats

The deer hunting season has drawn to a close and the statistics for North Royalton have been tallied.  With this season’s end, North Royalton Chief of Police, Keith Tarase, reported the 2025-26 season’s update to Council at a recent Council Safety Committee meeting.  The Ohio Deer Hunting Season for 2025-26 , for archery, started on September 27, 2025 and concluded on February 1, 2026, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. “The white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus), commonly referred to as the whitetail, is perhaps Ohio’s best-known wildlife species,” accordi ....

Council Votes to Allow All to Participate

The North Royalton City Council corrected an issue that they didn’t know existed. They were unaware that not all were allowed to address them during Council meetings. The rule that was on the books stated that any resident, by submitting a request, may speak at a regular council meeting on agenda items.  The public can be heard at end of the meeting, on miscellaneous items.  A poll was taken on twenty different communities, where it was shown that sixteen allowed only residents to speak.  Nineteen of those communities required a name and address.  The time allowed to speak ranged from t ....

The North Royalton Board of Education’s monthly School Board meeting took place on  Thursday, February 12. Assistant Superintendent, Melissa Vojta reported on a teaching and learning update. City Planning on Solution for Salt Shortages

North Royalton Service Director, Nick Cinquepalmi addressed City Council at the Council’s February 3 Streets Committee meeting regarding a solution to the City’s recent salt shortage problems.  Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz has directed Cinquepalmi to put together a plan for a brand new salt barn to house additional amounts of salt.  This plan will help alleviate problems the city has experienced this winter season, due to shortages from Cargill Salt.
