St. Albert the Great building on 60 years of faith for a new generation
The Catholic feast of St. Albert the Great, patron of the parish was November 15. Saint Albert the Great parish celebrated this Feast Day as a Solemnity on Saturday and Sunday, November 16 and 17. This year’s celebration is special due to the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the parish. To celebrate this landmark anniversary year, the annual renewal of Ministers took place at all of the weekend Masses. City Parks and Recreation Departments moves in to new property
The North Royalton Parks and Recreation Department is in the process of moving into a new facility, purchased this year by the city. They will be moving into the previously-owned Cuyahoga County property, which sits adjacent to the York Road ball fields, which will not only give them more room, but will also serve as equipment storage. “We’ll start moving in a little at a time,” said Mayor Bob Stefanik. Former Rite Aid property will be Chase Bank
The Rite Aid property, which is located at the corner of Royalton Road and State Road will be seeing some changes. The property will ultimately be changed from a retail store to a bank. Rite Aid vacated the property when they closed down that store’s location earlier this year. Rite Aid was built in 1997 on the 1.37 acre parcel. The existing 11,316 square foot building will be demolished and a new building housing Chase Bank will be constructed next year. Royal Redeemer Care and Share continues 30 years of Thanksgiving Dinner and fellowship
Care and Share at Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church had humble beginnings back in 1989. A group of volunteers served 100 Thanksgiving dinners. Fast forward to Thanksgiving Day 2019, 1,600 Thanksgiving dinners, 400-500 served inside the church and 1,200 more dinners delivered to shut-ins or given to individuals who wanted to enjoy their dinners at home. Can you imagine cooking 108 turkey breasts and fourteen 20-pound turkeys for those who wanted dark meat? That amounts to 900 pounds of meat. Close Ward 1 Council race to be recounted
On November 26, the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections reported that an automatic recount of the November 5 election would take place on six different races in Cuyahoga County. The Ward 1 Council race was among the others, that included the Council at Large for the city of Brecksville and Rocky River, Council seats in the villages of Valley View and Walton Hills and a Board of Education member in the Brooklyn City School District.
